A THEME FRAMEWORK FOR IDENTIFYING AND SELECTING ISSUES

Issues chosen for investigation are likely to vary according to what is currently being debated in society. In other words, unresolved issues emerge and recede dependant on whatever stimulus is acting upon them. One way to construct issues is to see them as a subset of overarching themes that remain relatively consistent over a period of time.

This diagram shows some major and closely interrelated themes within Australian Studies. Behind these are some examples of issues, posed as questions, that may be current and relevant at the time of selection.
