The purpose of the support materials
is to provide a starting point for teachers to develop their own
programs within the framework of Stage 1 and 2 subjects. They are
a sample range of current materials which teachers can adapt to suit
the specific needs of the students within their school context.
The intention is for these initial materials
to provide an impetus for wider contributions from members of the
educational community. In this way, over time, these support materials
will facilitate an exchange of ideas within the educational community.
It is important to note that the legislative
requirements of each subject are contained in the curriculum statements;
a Word and .pdf version of these are provided on this website. Curriculum
and assessment decisions should be based on the curriculum statements
and not on these support materials.
These materials have been developed
by South Australian educators (e.g. teachers, Subject Advisory Committee
members) across a range of sites. Their purpose is to support teachers
in their planning, programming and assessment. They provide samples
and models to consider when developing teaching and learning strategies
within the school setting, and should not be interpreted as directives
for implementation.
