The tertiary entrance statement on the back of your Record of Achievement shows information relevant to university and TAFE SA entrance.
University entrance
Tertiary entrance points are calculated for Stage 2 subjects. Your tertiary entrance points for your best five scaled full-year (or equivalent) Stage 2 subjects are used in the calculation of your university aggregate.
To get a university
aggregate you must have:
- qualified for the SACE;
- received a Subject Achievement Score of at least 3 out of 20 for five Stage 2 subjects;
- complied with the rules relating to precluded combinations and counting restrictions.
Your tertiary entrance rank (TER) is derived from your university
aggregate. The
universities use the TER to select the students who will be offered
places in particular courses.
TAFE SA entrance
To get a TAFE Score you must have qualified for the SACE. Your tertiary entrance points for your best three scaled full-year (or equivalent) Stage 2 subjects are used in the calculation of your TAFE Score.
Credit-transfer into TAFE courses
Any subjects listed here may be given credit-transfer into one or more TAFE courses. If you have been accepted into a
TAFE course you should ask if these subjects will receive credit in that course. This may mean that you do not have to repeat the content of these subjects in your TAFE course.
University Aggregate Calculator
SATAC, acting on behalf of the higher education institutions in South Australia, asks SSABSA to calculate the university aggregate and report it on the tertiary entrance statement.
If you want to check your university aggregate, follow the steps below.
Step 1
Look at the tertiary entrance statement on the back of your Record of Achievement. You will see your tertiary entrance points for each of
your full-year (or equivalent) scaled Stage 2 subjects listed in the section ‘University Entrance’. Note that these subjects appear in order
from your highest tertiary entrance points to your lowest (i.e. your best subjects are listed first).
Step 2
Find the tertiary entrance points for your best four scaled subjects.
Step 3
Halve the tertiary entrance points for your fifth best scaled subject. (Include the decimals
0.25, 0.5, and 0.75 where appropriate.)
Step 4
Add the five figures to give a total out of 90. This total is your university aggregate.
