Year 12 - What Next?

The pocket guide, Year 12 - What Next?, with its associated website, www.year12whatnext.gov.au, help Year 12 students across the country to answer the question of ‘what next?’ These resources provide a quick way for young people to access up-to-date information about the post-school study options available through vocational education and training (VET), Australian Apprenticeships, and university.

Centrelink offers support for further study or training:

  • Austudy for over-25-year-olds
  • ABSTUDY
  • Pensioner Education Supplement.
 
Planning to study overseas?

The SACE is accepted by universities around the world. You can ask SSABSA to forward your SACE records to an overseas university.

THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN TERTIARY ADMISSIONS CENTRE (SATAC)

SATAC processes applications for most courses offered by TAFE SA, the three South Australian universities, and Charles Darwin University in the Northern Territory.

SATAC uses selection rules set by those institutions, ranks applicants for each course, and informs applicants of the outcome.

Opening hours

SATAC is open for telephone and counter enquiries at 104 Frome Street, Adelaide, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Closed on public holidays.

 

TAFE SA

Offers posted

Thursday 10 January (most offers)

From Monday 21 January (further offers for some courses)

You can check whether or not you have an offer on TAFEWeb after 6 p.m. on Thursday 10 January.

Changing preferences

You can change your preferences for TAFE courses on TAFEWeb. You are guaranteed equal consideration if you do so by Friday 28 December 2007.

Responding to offers

You must respond by the date written on your offer letter and follow the instructions given. If you fail to do so, your place may be offered to another applicant. You might be offered TAFE and university courses if you have applied for both.

Opening hours

TAFE SA Information closes at 5 p.m. on 24 December and reopens on 2 January.

 

UNIVERSITY

Offers posted

Tuesday 15 January (most offers)

Monday 4 February

You can check whether or not you have an offer on UniWeb after 6 p.m. on the above dates.

Changing preferences

You can change your preferences for university courses on UniWeb. You are guaranteed equal consideration if you do so by Friday 4 January 2008.

Responding to offers

You must respond by the date written on your offer letter and follow the instructions given. If you fail to do so, your place may be offered to another applicant. You might be offered TAFE and university courses if you have applied for both.

Opening hours

Charles Darwin University closes at 3 p.m. on 21 December and reopens on 2 January.

Flinders University closes at 5 p.m. on 21 December and reopens on 2 January. Information sessions will be held at the university on 2 January and at the State Library of South Australia on 3 January.

The University of Adelaide closes at 4 p.m. on 21 December and reopens on 2 January. An information session will be held on 3 January from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

University of South Australia closes at 5 p.m. on 21 December and reopens on 2 January. An information session will be held at the City West Campus on 3 January from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
