SETTING PANELS - EXTERNAL EXAMINATIONS

 

List of the subjects that have a setting panel.

The role of a setting panel is to assist the Chief Assessor in the:

  • development of the examination paper (for example, providing possible examination items or questions, sourcing potential examination materials);
  • preparation of successive drafts of the examination paper for consideration by the examination vetting panel;
  • development of any assessment materials that may accompany an examination (for example, recording of a CD);
  • maintenance of the integrity, confidentiality, and security of examination materials.

 

Required Skills, Experience, and Knowledge

Members of setting panels should have:

  • relevant qualifications and/or recent studies;
  • experience and expertise in senior secondary assessment;
  • knowledge of the relevant curriculum statement;
  • teaching experience at senior secondary or tertiary level in the relevant subject;
  • ability to meet deadlines.

 

Special Conditions

Members of setting panels will be required to:

  • work to a strict timetable to ensure that examination papers are developed in the first half of the year. The Chief Examiner will construct a schedule for the development of the examination paper;
  • abide by SSABSA's Code of Practice and the Code of Conduct for South Australian Public Sector Employees, March 2005;
  • declare any potential conflict of interest at the time of appointment.
